As Jesus prays to the Father, He lays out all we need in order to know and understand the days in which we live. Jesus prays so we would know we have nothing to fear as we live in this world, but not of it.
We ought not gaze into the heavens feeling alone and destitute – as if He has made us orphans during this time between His first coming and His return. Rather, we are given the joyful assurance that our Lord Jesus lives and reigns over all things in this world for our good.
May our Good Shepherd, who has laid down His life for us, His sheep, and has taken it up again, preserve His voice purely among us, and may He guard and protect us as His lambs through this valley of the shadow of death.
